Earlier this month, the news from the Institute of Space Technology (IST) experienced a ransomware attack where hackers demanded $500,000 for stolen data, including sensitive staff information such as passports, payslips, and analysis details. Despite attempts to contact IST once again, their website appears to be offline. The hacker group, Medusa, has updated their news blog to indicate that the stolen data from IST has been publicly released on a Telegram channel, possibly due to non-compliance with the ransom demands, but there is no confirmation. The Telegram channel contains multiple downloadable files totaling 3.89 GB, although it is unclear which specific data was made public. IST has not made a public announcement about the incident, and they have not reached out to those who reported the initial ransomware attack. The response of IST to this situation is yet to be determined.
